I went on the website and browsed around and saw some cute things, but I took my sweet time to decide if I wanted to do it. Eventually, I pulled out my credit card and signed up for that Le Tote to come to my doorstep.
I will be the first to admit that I was confused by the concept (I don’t think I read the website properly). I thought I would receive a box full of items I had favorited (click a little heart) once a month for $49 and I would be able to keep the pieces that I liked. Well, that was partly correct.
The box is filled with a mix of items you favorite and some that are (supposedly) based on your style preference. Do not expect to have a box filled with all the items you wanted. I opened my first box and was confused, but I actually ended up keeping one of the items they send me that was not favorited in my closet.
The next piece of the puzzle is that the $49/ month is for unlimited totes, so as soon as you are done wearing the items, you can send it back and they will dispatch another one. My totes have been a mix, so I have been diligent about trying all the items on as soon as it arrives, deciding if I’m going to wear it, wearing it soon after, and sending it back. They pay for the shipping and provide pre-paid envelopes.
At this point, I’ve had three totes.
The first one was okay. I liked the necklace and wore it a couple times and I ended up really liking the black blouse. For $14, it was a steal. The sweater looked terrible on me. That picture online hides that fact that is is crop top with a mint green backside. I looked like a fat flying squirrel and the arms were really tight.
Tote #2 was not good with the exception of that dress. I hated both pieces of jewelry and the tops were not my style. I was a little annoyed with this tote because NOTHING I had favorited was in my tote.
I received my third tote the other day and I was happy to see the statement necklace I really liked and had favorited in there. The black skirt and the black top looked promising in the photos, but the fit was off.
I am actually surprised how much I like the concept, despite getting very few items I have worn. I actually really look forward to getting my box full of clothes to try on. I also am not super picky about what I wear to work, so even things that I wouldn’t buy to wear, I would probably throw on to look presentable at the office.
Pros:
-can skip months anytime
-get as many totes as you want per month
-clothing prices are reasonable
-less laundry and dry cleaning
-they have gotten a lot of new items, even in the short time I have been a member
-they give you a credit to purchase something with your first tote
-fast shipping
-as soon as they ship your box, you can see the contents online on your account
Cons:
-do not get to pick items
-$49 dollars a month to play dress up
-totes can be a complete bust
-if you want to wear one item multiple times, you have to wait to send back your entire tote (cannot send it back in pieces)
I’m not completely sold on doing it long term, but I’m hoping that they will start to give me better items now that I have rated all the items I’ve received in my totes. I’m open to giving it another month and seeing how it goes.
This Le Tote link is a referral link if anyone wants to give it a try. I’ve given my full and honest opinion here, so all the cards are on the table. I paid for my Le Tote membership and was not compensated for this post.
Have you heard of Le Tote? I feel like I usually know about things like this, but this was completely new to me when I heard about it at the beginning of the month.
Have you tried StichFix? What did you think? That may be my next subscription box adventure.
